Our Hotel close to Palazzo Vecchio
Live in the most important area of Ancient Florence very close to Palazzo Vecchio
At a few minute walking from the Golden Tower Hotel, enjoy the magnificent view of Piazza della Signoria and the Palazzo Vecchio, one of the most spectacular town halls in the world, for its long history and unique romanesque architectural style.
Originally, the beautiful square of Piazza della Signoria was part of the Roman anphitheatre of Florentia. Since then, the sqare and Palazzo vecchio followed all Florence vicissitudes in history, the passage from the power of priors to the one of the Signori and then to the one of the Dukes, when the Duke Cosimo de' Medici made of Palazzo Vecchio his own residential palace. It took the name of "Vecchio" - old, ancient - in 1565 when Cosimo moved to the new Palazzo Pitti. From 1865 to 1872 it has been the house of Parliament and today, the mayor of Florence and the city hall offices are hosted in the Palazzo Vecchio, very close to our hotel.
From our hotel, cross Piazza della Repubblica and walk to Palazzo Vecchio, also hosting a beautiful museum with works by Michelangelo, Donatello and Verrocchio.
