Strozzi Palace now hosts national and international exhibitions, in the past it was the ancient residence of the Strozzi family, one of the most important dinasty of the Renaissance period.
The Palace is just a few steps from the Golden Tower Hotel & Spa, from September 27th 2013 to January 19th 2014 celebrates a new vision of art thanks to the exhibition FIRE AND ICE The Russian Avant-garde and the East, the first international exhibition that recognizes the importance and the participation of the Oriental culture respect to the Russian ideology expressed in their works during the first part of 1900s.
This exhibition enhances the importance and the Oriental background through several different concept of arts represented by: Chinese printed images, the
Japanese engravings, the Indian philosophy. All of them focus on new and different aestethics theories.
The exhibition "The Russian Avant-gard and the East" underlines this complicated connection between the Russian and Oriental art and gives prominence to all
Russian artists who influenced the modern art evolution.
The most important Russian artists such as Mr Baskt, Mr Benois, Mr Filonov, Mr Malevic and Mrs. Goncarova were acknowledged the importance of the East in their art.
Natalja Goncharova said: "I brought back the Occidental Knowledge and philosophy through a slot of time from the past to the present and I acknowledged the identity of my country.
I feel ready to explore a new dimension of culture and I'm approaching the Oriental philosophy, my new expiration and I'm definively leaving my origin.
The art of my country compared to the Oriental disciplines is meaningless.
